Black Forest Labs has shipped FLUX Upscale — 2K and 4K for video, as its own FLUX Tool and endpoint.
Regeneration, Not Interpolation
FLUX Upscale takes any video and regenerates it at a higher resolution, up to native 4K — the FLUX model re-rendering the content rather than interpolating pixels. It’s the same philosophy spreading across the video-model frontier (MiniMax H3’s In-Context Regeneration uses the same trick for its 2K output): let the generative model recover detail, because a super-resolution filter can only guess.
The FLUX 3 Arc
The launch extends a dense 2026 for BFL:
- FLUX 3 — “Real World Models”: multimodal flow models as the backbone of visual intelligence (July)
- FLUX 3 x mimic — next-generation video-action models (July)
- FLUX 3 Video, Part 1 — FLUX enters video generation (August 4)
- FLUX Upscale — native 4K regeneration (August 20)
